Here is the original picture of this yummy little girl. Okay. Does anybody else think this little one looks just like the girl from the movie Matilda? I love that girl!

Chisolm Trail...yum ee.
So my awesome sister in law came into Dallas this week for "business" from Charlotte. So we met up at the Chisolm Trail in Waxahachie. That's right. I said W-a-x-a-h-a-c-h-i-e. Can you imagine having to learn that as a child. It's like 29 points in Scrabble! That's a lot of letters.
Anyway...we had a fun little time catching up for couple of hours. Hope she makes little trips like more often.

You're Not An Idiot!
I wouldn't call Amos an idiot. He is my husband:) But what I didn't tell you the other day about our odd fishing experience was what happened right before the water came rushing down the river. Amos did this...
Which is why I also didn't talk about Halloween night. Because I was at home!

Married to the Ministry
I love Lisa over at The Preachers Wife. She is doing a Ministers wife (m2m) scavenger hunt of sorts, so if you are wondering why in the world I am talking about myself. That's why! The winner gets a prize!! And you know how competitive I am! I'll sell my own children for a cook book!
The Treasures
1. First Name. Mariah
2. State and Country of Residence. Texas (that pretty much covers both state and country!)
3. Husband’s Ministry Title. A Rockin' Sr Pastor
4. Length of time in Current Ministry Location. 2 1/2 months. Just moved from being outreach/student for 11 years.
5. Children? Future alpha male: age 11, Daughter: 7 going on 17, Daughter: 6 and glad to be the baby, doesn't want another sibling, but would love a puppy.
6. Number of unique homes in which you’ve lived during your marriage. Three. One of which was student housing...I would call that unique on so many levels.
7. Cook Sunday lunch or eat out? Oh girl! EAT. OUT. Then nap. That HAS to be part of the question!
8. Typically on time for Sunday School or not? Early.
9. Favorite TV Show. Uh, shows. Lost, Fringe, and Ace of Cakes...and possibly House Hunters International
10. Something you watch/like/do that you would never tell the church people. (Except now you just did…lol) WHAT! Lisa! Okay...I love all things Godfather. Be it I, II, or III. I own the Videos AND watch them every time they are on TV. There. "I know it was you Fredo. You broke my heart! You broke my heart!"
11. Most annoying church-related pet peeve. When people cause dissention and call it being "spiritual"
12. One thing you need to throw away but can’t bring yourself to do it. Old cassette tapes. I don't think I have a player! I would say old clothes but I KNOW they will be back in about 15 years and then I'll be retro!
13. The one food you can not live without. My Trident gum (Citrus flavor). That counts, yes?
14. Parsonage or have your own home? Own home. Actually two, because our house in MI hasn't sold yet:)
15. Freak when the doorbell rings or always ready for a visitor? June Cleaver is ALWAYS ready for visitors! But Mariah ain't. I would be checking out the peep hole to see what's up;) jk. I do love having people in my house:)

Texas Fun in the Sun
After our 1st shot at fishing we went trailing. So beautiful.
My guy. I love you Amos and this picture that CLAY took of you! Good job boy. Momma's proud!
Kiddos.
Pretty Ladies.
Jude delayed in fishing due to "what the heck?" with her pole
"What the heck?" turned out to be "Oh, GREAT!" and her line being all tangled. Story of Jude's day.
Story of Hannah's day.
That kid is so stinking adorable...just like his momma!
My two boys over a little waterfall
After a fun filled afternoon what do you do?? You go 1 minute away to the only place in the area that sells this slice of heaven. Made with pure sugar cane.
Oh my people....I may not be able to go back to regular Dr. P. It was rockin the taste buds!

my ramblings:
Amos,
Clayboy,
Hannah,
Humphries Nation,
Juliane
Saving the Day while Turbulent Fishing!
So in honor of this fantabulous day in Texas, we went around town and took photos of the kids and then went "fishing" at Lake Whitney. I say fishing, but you know. We have three kids who grew up in Detroit.
Anyway. We get to the river and see this sign as we have our gear in tote.
Clay asks what it meant and so with my wealth of unlimited knowledge explain to my unknowing son that it meant the river can get undercurrents and watch out etc. Kids shouldn't play around here without a parent blah blah blah...I said all the wise things a mother would say.
We get to this lovely spot but the water is only like 4 inches deep. Not a CHANCE are we catching a fish. So it was cute as the kids fished and I feared for the safety of my perfectly unscarred face as Hannah would cast. I would duck from Hannah only to have to Matrix myself back to dodge Clay's cast.
We're going along and we hear this horn shooting over from the Dam. Loud. And. Clear. We look and keep fishing.
Then about oh, I would say 1:43 later, the boulders that we around began to be covered by water. So I now remember why the horn went off. The DAM was releasing water. So I tell Clay to start going back and grab Hannah, who had just cast off and begin to drag her back. We all make it back with wet feet and I realize I had grabbed the tackle box, that was open on the bottom.
So what do I do? I go out there and save the day. You ask why Amos didn't get out there? #1: He's got a stinkin Masters so that makes him smart. #2 I said I would since it was my fault and all I had on my feet was Crocs. He had at least 12 layers of feet protection on. #3 I thought it was just going back out there like real quick and back. I didn't know the water was rising with every dramatic step.
So he took the pictures of me. I'm only showing you these two. As he snaps, He says "Mariah! Smile for your blog!"
Now a little FYI here. When I made my trek out there, all that water was not there. Just a creek flowing through. See those boulders out there? Ya. That's where we were. My orphaned tackle items, on that bit-o-land right where my hands are. I am racing the water to get there. Can you feel the excitement people!!! I was RACING the CURRENT. It was rough. I barely made it back. It was like the Coast Guard when they go rescue Fisherman on Deadliest Catch!
The water was nice and cool. The rocks, not so much. Take note of the boulders. Bye bye.
All is safe and sound. Tackle box and all.
And this means so much more now.

Fix It Friday with a Cutie
It's FRIDAY over at I Heart Faces! Well, I guess it's Friday everywhere, but you know what I mean. It means time for Fix it Friday.
This girl is too cute. Dress, hands...everything.
Here is the original picture from the site...
And here is my little addition to the picture. I wanted to crop most of it because I love those hands and those eyes, so I wanted them to be focal. Hence the color change to a sepia.
She is darling and so everyone should go check out the other Fix-its. They rock. There are so many talented peeps out there. Crazy!
Let the Pounds begin
My vision for the weekend...
And if I do it right...by my calculations, my waist and hips should be bigger by about 3 inches by Monday!

20!!!! Are you Serious!
Wow. Two posts in a day! Record.
So I was thinking for a while I would never get passed my sister and my two friends being a follower. Which is fine I guess because the less followers the less pressure. Except for the small fact that I am MARIAH, severely competitive and Type A. Don't judge.
Back to my point of only having 3 followers.
Somehow my web of sheer pointlessness in blogging captured many more. I figured when I got to #20 I would...
A: be so cool in blogland. until I see people with like 4000...
B: Have all the rows filled to make a perfect square shape, because that was driving me flippin nuts...
C: Give a gift for the poor soul who suffers through my posts...
Well...look over to the right people. That's right! I have 20!!!! I'd like to give a special holla to those followers 1-19 who made this all possible.
So in my mind for months was to give "20" a card set from my sisters company. So go figure look who won. The ONE person who has their own design company. Gotta love it! So what should I do now? don't know. I could give her cards I made so she could use them for Before and After's!!
